Arsenal - Flamini Gone, So What?
"The Money-hungry Frenchman has left Arsenal for 'greener pastures'". "Fla-MONEY has left Arsenal for a 'bigger club'". "Why didn't Arsenal give him a better offer?". "How are we going to cope next Season?". All these and more are the lamentations of frustrated Arsenal fans worldwide. Flamini has gone, So What? Is it that nobody can fill his shoes? Or is it that Arsenal cannot make it without him? Flamini, while at arsenal gave all his best, most especially this season. We should wish Flamini all the best at his new club.

What Happened to Arsenal?
As a true gunner, one can only wonder and wonder and wonder what happened to arsenal. Arsenal is arguably one of the best teams not only in England but in the world. Arsenal's style of play is arguably one of the most entertaining in the world. Arsenal has some of the best players in the world. At the beginning of the season in August 2007, Arsenal looked unstoppable and was the envy of all teams in Europe. With their beautiful style of play and results that were produced, you could only sing songs of praises about them, performing brilliantly in all competitions and keeping title hopes alive.
How did our hopes of silverware end?
1) Carling Cup in England: The Carling Cup has always been an opportunity for Arsene Wenger(Arsenal Manager) to assess his non-first-team players and/or irregular starters. So we would expect a weakened side in that competition. Arsenal crashed out of that competition in the Semi-finals against Tottenham Hotspur. What caused that? Many would say the side was not strong enough. I agree.
2) The FA Cup: knocked out by Manchester United. What was the cause? Many will answer: a number of players had knocks and were rested ahead of the champions league game against AC Milan. But my answer would be Not enough quality players in the squad, I mean, if we have players with injuries there should be a number of players that would be able to replace them comfortably. We didn't have that and we got punished for it.
3)The English League: What happened? Started dropping unreasonable points after Eduardo's leg got broken. Did Eduardo's injury affect the team than we thought? Or was there not enough quality players in the squad? Many players were playing games week-in and week-out without rest, with not enough depth in the squad, who were these players going to be replaced with?
4)Champions League: 2 reasons, pure lack of luck of again not enough quality players again.
What is the way forward? We have a brillianrt manager in Arsene Wenger, We have quality players in the squad but I'm afraid we don't have enough, so the best thing to do is to bring in at least 5 quality players, this way Arsenal will be able to contest for all silverware comfortably and win some of them.

Why Blame Vogts?
Yes! Nigeria's performance in the recent Africa Cup of Nations 2008 was nothing to write home about but what baffles me is the quick pointing of fingers and rain of blames on Berti Vogts by the Majority of Nigerians. What did Eguavoen do wrong before he was replaced as Head Coach of the Super Eagles by the NFA? With what Eguavoen did as coach in AFCON 2006, I would have expected the NFA to retain him as coach but NO, that cannot happen when we have a bunch of Politicians instead of real football lovers running the day to day affairs of the NFA. Recent news suggests that the Dutchman has been relieved of his duties as head coach. Does that not look like a way to hide their foolishness. They Fire coaches everytime in order to change the mindsets of we Nigerians so that we channel our blames to the coaches. Our poor performance in the frica Cup of Nations was caused by the Administration of Nigerian Football and if the so-called Admin continues in this manner, Nigeria will slowly but surely lose its reputation as a football nation which has already began to happen.
I rest my case.
I rest my case.
